Compassion is not a luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability; it is essential for human survival.
~ Dalai Lama
In these extraordinary times, we are called to show up fully, to listen deeply, engage wholeheartedly, and strengthen our capacity to remain compassionate even in the face of challenge. The world needs each of us to bring our whole selves forward, to cultivate the resilience that allows us to act with both courage and kindness.
Compassionate Listening is a transformative practice that reaches into the heart of discord and disconnection, teaching us to listen in a new way, one that fosters understanding, connection, and healing. When we soften our hearts while strengthening our backs, we open the door to deeper relationships, productive teamwork, and courageous action for change.
In this experiential workshop, we will explore the core practices of The Compassionate Listening Project, which offer practical tools to help us navigate difficult conversations and sustain ourselves in our work for peace and justice:
• Cultivating and Holding Compassion for oneself and others
• Developing the Fair Witness, without judgment or blame
• Maintaining Balance in the Heat of Conflict, with respect for self and others
• Listening with the Heart
• Speaking from the Heart, with language that reflects a healing intention
Together, we will practice the art of deep listening, not just to others, but to ourselves and the world around us. We will strengthen our ability to remain present, even in the face of disagreement, and to transform conflict into opportunities for connection and healing.
This workshop is for anyone who longs to contribute to the healing of our communities, to build bridges where there is division, and to be part of creating the Beloved Community we know is possible.
Come as you are. Leave with tools to sustain you.
