About The Event
When was the last time you felt deeply listened to?
Is 2020 a year in which you found it increasingly harder to listen to others?
What is the secret to listening and speaking from the heart when the opportunities for finding peace within ourselves and with others seems so elusive?
We invite you to join with kindred spirits to practice the art of Compassionate Listening and deepen your skills for connection in these increasingly divisive times. A group of our highly skilled certified facilitators will bring their decades of expertise to these sessions, and will welcome individuals of all skill levels.
Over the past year, we've moved all of our offerings online, and many people have been able to participate in our workshops for the first time. Our community has grown exponentially, with more diversity and international participation. Practice Groups offer a way for you to dip in with a simple 2-hour time commitment, to anchor the teachings so that Compassionate Listening can become an embodied way of being. After 20+ years of teaching Compassionate Listening, we recognize it as a spiritual practice that deepens over time.
Each session will be led or co-led by our certified facilitators, and will incorporate one or more exercises from our core curriculum, designed to support our 5 Core Practices:
- Cultivating and Holding Compassion for Oneself and Others
- Developing the Fair Witness, without Judgment or Blame
- Maintaining Balance in the Heat of Conflict, with Respect for Self and Others
- Listening with the Heart
- Speaking from the Heart, with Language that Reflects a Healing Intention
Every other Saturday (starting January 23rd) at 11am PST / 2pm EST
Every other Wednesday (starting January 27th) at 4pm PST / 7pm EST
You may participate in as many practice groups as you wish.
Each session is $20. A limited number of reduced price tickets are available for those who have limited financial means. $30 tickets are available for those who would like to offer support to those who cannot afford the cost of these sessions.
Practice Groups are open to new and experienced practitioners alike. Some experience with Compassionate Listening is helpful, but not necessary. If you wish to get even more out of the sessions, you can prepare by reading Practicing the Art of Compassionate Listening, which is available in both hard copy and ebook in our online store.
This online session will be held on Zoom. Practice group sessions are highly experiential and require your full presence and participation. Please plan to show up in a quiet distraction-free environment, fully present and available to experience the workshop. Please do not join the workshop while in transit (walking, driving, on the bus, etc.), or while multitasking (cooking, working, watching television, etc.).
Breakout rooms will be used to guide participants through our introductory curriculum in small groups. Please connect to the event using a device that has full video and audio capability, and plan to have your video turned on for the majority of the workshop once it begins. (It's okay to turn your video off temporarily if a background visual distraction occurs.) Finally, we respectfully request that you attend all sessions possible and commit to listening to the recording for any session missed if unforeseen circumstances arise.
If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Practice groups are led by a rotating group of our certified facilitators. Learn more about our facilitators here.
