About The Event

Masters throughout the ages recognize that listening is one of the most precious gifts we can give to another human being. The practice of Compassionate Listening builds trust, connection, understanding, respectful dialogue, and sustainable solutions. It is ideal for those involved in conflict transformation and peace-building in a professional or personal context, and for those who are passionate about building bridges and healing relationships in our personal lives and in the world.

This one day session will introduce or strengthen the practices of:

Cultivating compassion - towards ourselves and others.

Developing the fair witness - honing our ability to “go to the balcony” during stressful interactions and combine cognitive awareness with the wisdom of the heart.

Respecting self and others.

Listening and speaking from the heart...as well as the opportunity to put these into practice within a safe environment.

**If you'd like to register for the Advanced Training taking place in Concord the following weekend and have not taken an introductory training before, this one-day intro is a prerequisite.

**Please pack and bring your own lunch to this training.

Cost:

This workshop is being offered on a sliding scale of $50 - $150 (no questions asked). All proceeds are tax deductible and will be donated to the Compassionate Listening Project. Pre-registration is required with your $50 deposit here. The remainder will be due at the end of the workshop, according to your ability to pay and your perceived value.

Facilitator:

Joel Berman is a retired family physician in Concord, NH. He participated in Journeys to Israel and Palestine in 2015 and 2016, during which he recorded and transcribed over 25 listening sessions that form the basis for public presentations designed to humanize the “other” and help local audiences recognize the common humanity, shared values, and mutual aspirations of people across the geo-political spectrum. He received certification training in 2016 and 2017 and facilitates an ongoing Compassionate Listening practice group in Concord.
