Cultivating A Forgiving Heart with Amalia Phillips

A Four-Session Online Workshop Series

Thursdays, March 3, 10, 17, & 24

12:00-2:30 pm PST / 3:00-5:30pm EST

With the emergence of a new year, you may be brimming with enthusiasm and anticipation. But do you also feel the call to slow down, restore, and forgive?

New York Times bestselling author and teacher of Buddhist meditation practices Sharon Salzburg tells us that in order to fully experience the love that is available to us in our lives, we must cultivate a forgiving heart:

"Forgiveness is not a single action, but a process. By forgiving those who harmed us, we do not pretend that what harm they caused did not happen, or that it did not hurt. We can see that chronic resentment stands in the way of love. The bitterness that arises from a long-held wrong, gone over and over, encases the heart, making it difficult for love to get through. Fixing onto the memory of the harms we have suffered generates anger and sadness, and may cause us to withdraw from other love that comes our way. We may become so consumed by these feelings that we cannot enjoy the pleasures that are right in front of us. Forgiveness is the way we break the grip resentment has on our hearts."

Learn ways to create a fertile space within yourself for forgiveness to take root in our upcoming workshop, Cultivating a Forgiving Heart with Amalia Phillips & Liz Spitzer.

Join us for a journey on the path of letting go and forgiving. We believe that in order for forgiveness to take place, the healing must begin inside—only then can it start to reflect outwards and into our life.

Forgiveness is both a path and a learnable skill. In this workshop, you will use the 5 core practices of Compassionate Listening as a framework to explore your belief and assumptions about forgiveness, and explore necessary steps and useful practices to help you feel safe on your continued journey towards the cultivation of a forgiving heart.

This course is for anyone who:

  • Wants to benefit from more compassion, healthier boundaries, and a letting-go of expectations and resentments;
  • Is ready to take greater personal responsibility and shed the stories that keep them disconnected or stuck in patterns that no longer serve them;
  • Is willing to remove the armor of self-protection, and notice where they can create more connection and harmony with the people in their life;
  • Is seeking guidance to gain healing and closure from negative events and past hurts;
  • Wants to feel lighter, more peaceful, and more ready to live life to its fullest.

Your admission to this workshop includes a PDF copy of Practicing the Art of Compassionate Listening. You may wish to read this book (or sections of it) in advance of the training.

Feedback

I am so grateful for what [Amalia has] provided and [the workshop was] so well taught. This is a precious gem we can carry and in turn pass on to others. We all want to be heard. It's a basic need in any type of relationship and when done, can open many paths in solving issues. [Amalia's] process had some hidden gems we may not have recognized: Words matter, compassion for ourselves and I think very importantly, learning about how we communicate and what needs tweaking. Can't wait for what is next.

-Workshop Participant

This CL course... provided a framework for evaluating ways of discussing problems and coming to good outcomes and solutions. Amalia was able to keep us engaged the whole time!

- Ailine

I am very inspired to continue learning. Thank you so much. I appreciated [your] bringing in artistic elements such as poetry, paintings and meditations. You exemplify some of the exercises through personal example [which] was helpful.
