Engaging from the Heart: Healing Our World from the Inside Out – in Seattle with Susan Partnow

Become a More Powerful Peacemaker in Your Family, Community and Workplace

  • Cultivating Compassion
  • Developing the Fair Witness
  • Respecting Self and Others

  • Speaking from the Heart

Compassionate Listening practices reach deep into the heart of discord or disconnection, teaching people to listen with a different “ear” to those around them. Its powerful tools help transform the energy of conflict into opportunities for understanding, intimacy at home, healthy relationships, productive teamwork, and positive action. Our practices provide a roadmap to what sages from all ages and cultures have taught: cultivating the wisdom of the heart is the key to real peace “from the inside out.”

This is the Basic Intensive workshop that has been taught throughout the United States and on other continents for many years. It serves as a great introduction or a perennial refresher for those who have studied before.  Your facilitator, Susan Partnow, is a senior trainer and mentor who co-created the original curriculum and core practices of Compassionate Listening.

EARLY BIRD: RM850 and for groups of 3 signing up together

As every spiritual master recognizes, listening is one of the most precious gifts we can give to another human being, in the workplace as well as in our home life.  How do we provide this gift to those with whom we work, to those with whom we have business transactions? What are the baseline skills that contribute to heart-to-heart connections – and how do we bring them into our everyday business lives?

We recognize that staying connected to our own hearts and deepest values, particularly in the heat of conflict or stressful situations, can profoundly impact those around us.

The practice of Compassionate Listening builds the foundation for trust, connection, compassion, respectful dialogue and ultimately for creating sustainable changes in the human environment within families, schools, workplaces and communities. This workshop will provide Compassionate Listening theory and walk people through basic experiential exercises related to the five core practices listed below. It will help participants see that each of us has the choice to create a culture of peace in our daily work lives.

Our powerful exercises enable participants to begin listening with a different ear to themselves and the people closest to them.

After the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Understand the core practices of Compassionate Listening
◦ Cultivating compassion for self and others
◦ Respecting self and others
◦ Developing the “fair witness”
◦ Listening with the heart
◦ Speaking from the heart
• Experience the difference between head-based and heart-based listening and speaking and learn to integrate the two
• Identify and manage emotional “triggers”
• Learn to connect with another when in the heat of conflict
• Gain understanding of the heart/brain research related to compassion
• Learn basic centering techniques

Self Compassion: The Jewel at the Heart of Being

This one-day workshop focuses specifically on practices that enhance our capacity for self-compassion and self care – which is foundational to our ability to be of true service in the world.

We all know that at the core of our ability to bring compassion to others, those closest to us as well as those suffering around the globe, we must embrace our ability to be compassionate with ourselves. And yet that seems to be one thing so many of us have the greatest difficulty with.

Join us for a session focused on honing the jewel that exists at the heart of our being.

(Our 2-day basic Compassionate Listening Workshop, Healing the World from the Inside Out, is not a pre-requisite for this workshop.)
