Self Compassion: Cherishing The Jewel at the Heart of Being – in Seattle with Susan Partnow

This one-day workshop focuses specifically on practices that enhance our capacity for self-compassion and self care – which is foundational to our ability to be of true service in the world.

We all know that at the core of our ability to bring compassion to others, those closest to us as well as those suffering around the globe, we must embrace our ability to be compassionate with ourselves. And yet that seems to be one thing so many of us have the greatest difficulty with.

Join us for a rejuvenating and inspiring session focused on honing the precious jewel that exists at the heart of our being.

(Our 2-day basic Compassionate Listening Workshop, Healing the World from the Inside Out, is not a pre-requisite for this workshop.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
As every spiritual master recognizes, listening is one of the most precious gifts we can give to another human being, in the workplace as well as in our home life.  How do we provide this gift to those with whom we work, to those with whom we have business transactions? What are the baseline skills that contribute to heart-to-heart connections – and how do we bring them into our everyday business lives?

We recognize that staying connected to our own hearts and deepest values, particularly in the heat of conflict or stressful situations, can profoundly impact those around us.

The practice of Compassionate Listening builds the foundation for trust, connection, compassion, respectful dialogue and ultimately for creating sustainable changes in the human environment within families, schools, workplaces and communities. This workshop will provide Compassionate Listening theory and walk people through basic experiential exercises related to the five core practices listed below. It will help participants see that each of us has the choice to create a culture of peace in our daily work lives.

Our powerful exercises enable participants to begin listening with a different ear to themselves and the people closest to them.

With Andrea Cohen and Susan Partnow

Strengthen your ability to be a positive force in the world with the courage and humility needed to be effective and “take a stand.”

Whether your area of leadership is in the workplace, the community, or the arena of politics, this workshop will be helpful. We’ll explore issues of rank, privilege, internalized and systemic oppression, grief, and forgiveness – and practice ‘sitting in the fire’ with people of divergent backgrounds and perspectives.

On each step of the journey, you’ll integrate more deeply the wisdom of mind, body and spirit in service of creating a healthier planet and more peaceful world.

This is a 2-1/2 day workshop (Saturday, Saturday evening and Sunday). Prior experience with basic Compassionate Listening practices is recommended.

Cost: Total cost for the workshop is $195 – $395. You’ll be able to choose what you pay within this range at the end of the workshop. Those able and willing to contribute at the higher end help support our ability to provide partial scholarships for those who are in need.
