This has been a very busy time for TCLP. Susan Partnow brought Compassionate Listening to Cuba for the first time; Peter just completed a week of trainings and presentations in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; Susan and Andrea held a training in Seattle; I held a training on Bainbridge Island, and we’re in the last weeks of registration for our Advanced Training course, Compassionate Listening with Self and Others that begins on February 26th. Maha and Yael continue to train in Israel. Yael has a 2-hour intro coming up in Jerusalem on February 16th, and Andrea is traveling to Winnipeg for a training sponsored by the Institute for Community Peacebuilding.
We want to thank Eric Lui and his team for including us in another excellent Guiding Lights conference, where Susan and I presented to over 350 people.
During the war in Gaza, I was contacted British journalist Jeremy Sare for an interview about our work in Israel and Palestine (thank you to Paul Howell for connecting us). I introduced the reporter to my Israeli friend Anael Harpaz, Middle East Director for Creativity for Peace and suggested he interview Anael about their work with young Israeli and Palestinian women. He did a beautiful job – here’s the story: Searching for Middle East Peace. (The young women came together from Gaza, Israel and the West Bank last weekend to reconnect after the war.)
It’s been a traumatic entry to 2009 with the war in Gaza. Sending our deepest blessings that our human family can wake up to our oneness, and the understanding that violence will never bring peace. My prayer is that 2009 will usher in an era of deep listening and finding new ways to evolve together on this beautiful planet we call home.
