The Green Line was originally an armistice line, drawn up at the end of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The Green Line divided towns and villages, neighbor from neighbor, and farmers from their land. Today, it separates Israel from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, with the Separation Wall further dividing the Children of Abraham. The Green Line is a metaphor for walls – on the ground and in our own hearts, that keep us separate and living in fear. |
