Compassionate Listening is a training and practice that helps us develop skills and open-heartedness to be a centered, constructive presence in conflict situations.  It helps us to awaken to our most central core, our heart of Love.  In this 2-day training, we will practice skills that help us become better listeners, curious questioners and more self-aware communicators.  The power of compassion is so important today for reconciliation and repair of our hearts, our relationships and our world.

We engage in Compassionate Listening through our five core practices:

  • Cultivating Compassion for ourselves and others;
  • Developing the Fair Witness by remaining open in conflict situations;
  • Respecting Self and Others by developing boundaries which protect yet include;
  • Listening with the Heart – allowing divergence and finding a deeper point of connection;
  • Speaking from the Heart with language which reflects a healing intention.

The curriculum for Compassionate Listening developed over many years of working with Israelis and Palestinians and has been taught and practiced in conflict and post-conflict zones worldwide, and in settings as diverse as teen girls’ circles and prisons.

Andrea Cohen Kiener is a compassionate listening trainer and has led/co-led nine Compassionate Listening delegations to Israel and the occupied territories.  She has facilitated practice groups and trainings in churches, schools and other community settings, and is a rabbi serving in Greenfield MA.

For over thirty years, Andrea has skillfully guided and facilitated with her keen insight, vast knowledge base, humor and engaging and heart-centered presence. She is a sought-after speaker, facilitator, mentor, educator, presenter and spiritual leader for a variety of venues.
