Dear Friends,
The Compassionate Listening Project warmly invites you to our 6th Annual Gathering. Leah Green, Carol Hwoschinsky, and Cathy Keene are hosting this year. To date, registrations include people from age 25 – 75 from six states plus a sizable contingent from British Columbia (scroll down to the bottom of this page to see the registration list).

Everyone is welcome – no prior experience with the Compassionate Listening Project is necessary in order to attend this Gathering.

This is an opportunity to come together, drink from the well of spirit and community, relax, rejuvenate, and spend time deepening practices to cultivate compassion for ourselves and others. Newcomers are always welcome. Each year we offer a short experiential session for those wanting an introduction to Compassionate Listening.

Special guest: This year we welcome special guest Dr. Dan Booth Cohen, international trainer of Constellation Work, from Boston (see below).

“Thank you all for the wonderful sense of camaraderie,
friendship and open-heartedness that pervaded the whole weekend”

“The Gathering was a high point of my summer. Thank you for providing this wonderful space and for your amazing work in the world.”

When: October 9 – 11, 2009 beginning Friday at 6:00pm and ending Sunday at 4:30pm. Day rates are available for Saturday and Sunday for those who cannot attend the whole Gathering or do not need on-site sleeping accommodations. Single rooms are available. We fill up each year so we do encourage you to register soon.

Annual Gathering Schedule:

Friday, October 9:
5:00 – 6:30 pm: arrival
6:30: dinner
7:30 Opening Circle & Open Space Marketplace

Saturday and Sunday:

With the elegant, self-organizing structure of Open Space, we co-create our very own schedule of concurrent sessions designed to deepen compassion in our lives. Everyone who comes to the Gathering is invited to convene circles to share their own practices, projects, or areas of expertise, or ask for facilitation for a topic you’d like to explore. Each of us then participate in the sessions that hold heart and meaning for us. Our multi-talented senior facilitator, Susan Partnow, will lead us in the Open Space process.

Seabeck Conference CenterOur facilitators are available to offer practice sessions and share how they use Compassionate Listening with youth, couples, world-work, practice groups, etc. People who have been using Compassionate Listening in their work, programs or projects are invited to share with us.

Our special guest this year is Dr. Dan Booth Cohen, international trainer/facilitator of Constellation Work, who will lead us in a large group constellation on Sunday morning.

About Dr. Cohen: Dan helps individuals and organizations recognize, release, and transform invisible negative patterns embedded in larger family and societal systems. Using the systemic Family Constellation process, he fosters healing where the collision between life and the system was most damaging, whether with children of Nazi perpetrators and Jew Holocaust victims, men and women, or mothers and daughters. A report of his recent workshop at a former Jewish survivor’s camp in Germany can be read here: www.danboothcohen.blogspot.com .

Dr. Cohen trained as a Constellator directly with Bert Hellinger and many leading European trainers. He holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Saybrook University School and an MBA from Boston University. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and book chapters. His most recent book is I Carry Your Heart in My Heart: Family Constellations in Prison. His website is www.HiddenSolution.com .

We invite you to join our wonderful learning community, and build our collective wisdom to create a more compassionate world.

Saturday evening: enjoy wine, chocolate, and hilarity with our sixth-annual “Fun-Raising” auction. Everyone who attends the Gathering is asked to bring a treasured piece/s from home: art, jewelry, collectibles, a service; and we

auction it off. The most popular auction item has been auctioning off homestays in popular destinations (like Vancouver BC, Seattle, Ashland, OR, Bainbridge Island) – which have served to strengthen the bonds of friendship among our community. A portion of the funds raised will go towards Advanced Training for Israelis and Palestinians. This year, Leah Green and Linda Wolf will head up the auction team. What could be more wacky?

Cost:
$200 per person for shared room in the historic Seabeck Inn or one of their historic houses, with six buffet-style meals with organic and vegetarian offerings ($250 for a single room).
$75 for the day rate: lunch and dinner but no lodging, for Saturday and/or Sunday;
